Osho Talking about Astrology

Quote from “Hidden Mysteries of Eastern Temples” Chap. 5

In Rig-Veda, ref is mad to a certain positioning of the stars…95,000 years ago. On this basis, Lokmarya Tilak concluded Vedas must certainly be even more ancient.
Astrology is perhaps the most ancient subject and also in a way the most tabooed. Throughout the world, 78% people believe in astrology.
(Without research and experimentation, nothing becomes fresh, only imagined.)
Astrology was an infinitely developed science in some extremely advanced civilization, but that civilization has been lost and only incomplete fragments of their astrology have remained in our hands.
Astrology is not a new science which needs to be developed, but a science which was at one time very advanced. Then the civilization which developed it was lost. Civilization come and go every day.
The past is providing the impetus, but also the future is exercising a pull, an attraction.
The deepest realization of astrology is that your past must be unlocked – because if you become aware of your entire past, then you will become aware of your entire future.
Astrology …to whatever is inevitable, it lends a cooperative hand. Whatever is to be, it does not madly struggle against. Whatever is not to be, it does not demand. Astrology was a means of making man religious – for bringing him to suchness, for bringing him to an ultimate acceptance.
Life is a whole. If you can perceive this wholeness…Astrology is a dimension of spirituality. It is the science of wholeness, unity, non-duality.
I have said that we are affected by the moon and stars. I also wish to say that the moon and stars are affected by us.
Astrology is an investigation into the possibility that changes in the universe have also been recorded in man.
We are able to live because we do not know everything that is happening around us…We neither come to know influences below a certain limit, nor those above a certain limit. The range of our experience is limited.
A human being is enclosed within a sort of capsule. He has boundaries.
When I am talking about astrology, I wish that I could show you around this magnificent structure from many directions so that you might enter it without any fear or hesitation…I am not talking about the ordinary astrology.
Astrology can be divided into three parts. The first part is the core, the essence. It is the essentials and cannot be changed.
The second part is the middle layer, in which one can make whatever changes one wants. It is the semi-essential portion in which you can make changes if you know how, but without knowing, no changes are possible at all.
The third part is the outermost layer which is non-essential, but about which we are all very curious.
The first is the essence, in which no changes can be made. When it is known, the only way is to cooperate with it. Religions have devised astrology in order to know and decipher this essential destiny.
…The astrology I am talking about concerns the essential, the fundamental. At best your curiosity reaches up to the semi-essential.
